FOUNDER & designer

LEATHERBLADE was conceived by Tina Matthews in 2010. 

She is a Fine Artist born into a family of artists in Kentucky, where she grew up in the woods. It was here she garnered a respect for the ‘nature beast’ that would inspire her later work as a Fine Artist, Costume Designer, and Performer.

Her work often explores the majesty of animals, environmentalism, and utilitarianism all with an undercurrent of doom. 

In 2003, Matthews completed a BFA in Fine Art from the Columbus College of Art and Design. While in Columbus, she created distinctive costumes, winning the reputable Halloween Highball in 2011. Her costumes also gained national recognition through her work as a founding member of the performance group, Queen Mae and the Bells, as well as her ongoing costume design for the DJ duo, RoeVy.  She currents lives and works in Los Angeles.
